Siteworks faced the unusual challenge of creating this first-of-its-kind development, from conceptual vision to final fit-out, in the historic-registered United Carriage and Baggage Transfer Building. The project required the sensitive insertion of new seismic upgrades while maintaining the historic character of the building.

The existing center atrium was brought back to life providing daylight for all three floors, and salvaged timbers were resawn for wall cladding, tables, and storefront windows systems. Siteworks’ collaborative design-build efforts created a one-of-a-kind, award-winning building that reenergizes the neighborhood, provides a destination for locals and tourists alike, and celebrates thoughtful integration of development and community.
