ecoFLATS strives to implement common-sense design elements in combination with sociological motivations to foster a lasting model for a Net Zero community of residents and businesses. ecoFLATS responds to Portland’s need for denser but neighborhood-friendly buildings on a previously under-utilized site in Portland’s Interstate Urban Renewal Area. The aim of ecoFLATS is to capture the attention of bicycle commuters and those who desire a live small lifestyle. The building is slated to be the first Net Zero apartment building in the United States and is currently seeking LEED Gold Certification.
